Josh Hickok (autobiography)

This is the narrative of a boring and simple college student interested in the defense of Christianity. There will be no fireworks display here, no riveting journey of a lost sheep out of a lifestyle of debauchery, and definitely no animals harmed in the making of this page J .

I suppose I should start at the beginning. Well, when two people decide that the world could use one more person…. Too far you say? Fair enough. Let’s skip ahead, to schooling years. For my first few years up until 3rd grade, my parents home schooled me. I am forever indebted to them because of this invaluable instruction I received during these years. Home schooling is definitely the number one choice for concerned parents. But on with the show. It was midway through my 3rd grade year that my parents decided to enroll me in a Christian school. It was here that I would spend the remainder of my grade school years. In my junior year there, I took a class on “Creationism”, which turned out to be the spark that my dreary Christian walk required. Then it started- I ate up everything, starting with Norman Geisler’s “Christian Apologetics” and leading me to the world of Christian philosophical apologetics. It just made sense to have a firm under girding prior to setting up a theological “building” on to it.

Three years later, my fire for philosophy and Christian apologetics has only grown with the addition of more texts. I’ve been through most of the big-name fellows and worked my way through the knowledge they’ve given us, and yet my faith has only grown stronger with the tests of pagan systems.

One year in the secular UW-Wisconsin system has done me a world of good, insofar as it’s given me an experience that I’ve never had before- interacting everyday with a school body composed mainly of nonbelievers. I still feel like I'm missing an advanced theological training that only a Christian atmosphere delivers, so this fall (2005) I am transferring to Emmaus Bible College in Iowa. Hopefully in this environment I can keep a steady flow of attention and dedication to this site, and give the greatest possible amount of quality in everything I do, to the glory of our Creator and Savior.

*Addition- My girlfriend of (about) two and a half years and I decided to get married this August (2005).  I would appreciate your prayers, and I know she would also!  Love you hun!
