  1. Re: Osteen comments
When I read your post about Victoria Osteen, I was reminded of the apostle Paul languishing in prison/custody, where he proclaimed that he has learned to be content with little or much (Phil 4:10-12). It seems from reading the posts that some vigorously defend Victoria using the “judge not lest ye be judged” argument. As a matter of practicality in this life, we are called regularly to judge the “right or wrong” of things (ie: jury system, police, DA’s, judges, commissioners, administrative law judges, etc. etc.). I think if we never made any judgement decisions about what is right and what isn’t, we run a greater risk of allowing our society to collapse into hedonism coupled with a laissez faire approach. Some people use this same argument to ostensibly stifle disagreement.
Mr. Osteen by his own admission never attended seminary, nor finished at Oral Roberts University. While I admit that attending seminary is not mandatory, it certain helps to have a clear understanding of scripture. I also think that anyone who professes to be a preacher, which he claims he is, certainly doesn’t need a $10 million mansion. The bigger picture is that I believe there are many sincere God fearing people who follow him and Victoria and would understandably defend him. The problem with our society is we live in a “selfie”, full of people who are more interested in themselves, rather than those who “take up their cross daily” or “work out their salvation with fear and trembling”. Since we are warned that in this life we would have trouble, but Jesus said to take heart as he had overcome the world.

    • Right on I see the same in so many very well Pastors there personal home are mansions they just misread that the mansion Jesus mansion are in heaven.

    • The carnal mind (the flesh) can not understand the things of the Almighty God. However the spirit (the real me does understand. The Lord told us to beware of false teaching. I have applied these teachings to my life & my families life as well. You Tim & your slander does not change Gods way of doing things. The teaching of the so called Faith people which I am one as well has changed my & my families lives. I’ll keep doing what works & add your ignorant self in my prayers. I sincerely pray that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened. Gods daughter.

      • I’m interested in having you show me one instance where I slandered someone. If you are referring to the post on Victoria Osteen’s comments, I think anyone reading that will see that I did not slander her. In fact, my critique was of her comments and was not an attack on her. Many people noted that very thing in the comments that followed. However, you did call me “ignorant” and falsely accused me of slander.
This is not meant to sound snarky, but merely want to gently point out what I believe to be an inconsistency in your thinking/theology. If you are part of the “so called Faith people,” as you claim and I’m assuming you mean what many call the Word-Faith people, then when you pray for me and Tom, wouldn’t you be able to change our views when you speak those prayers in faith? But the fact is that you can’t create reality through your words, no matter how much faith you have in them. The point of Christianity is not having faith in your own faith. Jesus Christ died and rose so that we can be forgiven of our sins, live godly lives, and spend eternity with Him.
